I'm not going to lie to you...I've been planning our wedding for about four months. I created our wedding binder a while ago!
Our (Nick has been actively involved) original idea was to go to Grand Superior with our immediate family (around 25 people) for a simple wedding. Eventually we would have a big open house at a park in our home town. Now we are talking about eloping. We would send out announcements asking people if they would help us celebrate our one or five year anniversary with a party instead of a reception.
When I started planning our wedding, I went to The Knot where they gave me a huge check list. Now I'm a list kind of girl. When I go on vacation, I make a list of what I'm taking but also a list of what I'm going to wear everyday. But some of this stuff was ridiculous! If you are looking for a good wedding checklist, look at offbeat bride's checklist.
After searching the internet, I learned that a boring, traditional white wedding isn't a requirement. So now I have daily reading requirements that include:
- Ariel @ Offbeat Bride
- Sara @ 2000 Dollar Wedding
- Dana @ Broke-Ass Bride
What have these amazing women taught me? Our wedding is ours and we can do what we want! It's not about the wedding, it's about the marriage and celebrating the love we have for each other.
